Griffith University Awarded AMI Accreditation for the Master of Marketing

Griffith University’s Department of Marketing was recently awarded official accreditation by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) for its Master of Marketing program, offered both on campus and online. This accreditation is for a 3-year period beginning February 2017 and will be reviewed once this period comes to an end.

As the leading industry association for marketing professionals in Australia, the Australian Marketing Institute offers a wide range of benefits for marketing students and graduates, including opportunities to network at industry and career development events across the country. Graduates of AMI certified degrees will also have the opportunity to become a Certified Practicing Marketer sooner.

To be awarded AMI certification, a program must first meet stringent accreditation standards in key areas including curriculum structure and content; exam and assessment methods; the relationship between assessment and learning; and, most importantly, the quality of academic staff and teachers. In order to qualify, Griffith University’s Department of Marketing was rigorously reviewed by an independent assessment team consisting of senior academics and marketing industry subject experts.

Feedback on the program from these assessors noted the following strengths: strong higher order thinking and judgement skills are developed through studying real-world marketing issues and synthesising theoretical and practical marketing knowledge, leading to the development and evaluation of solutions and responses to issues, opportunities and problems.

This accreditation will allow Griffith University to add the AMI’s authority to the accredited postgraduate marketing programs, providing an independent verification of the status and quality of these programs.
