Griffith’s Master of Financial Planning Professor Wins National Teaching Award

Discipline Head of Finance and Financial Planning at Griffith’s Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics, Professor Mark Brimble, has received a prestigious national award that honours his significant contribution to student learning, giving him recognition as being among Australia’s best university teachers.

Professor Brimble, who is one of the teachers for Griffith’s accelerated online Master of Finanical Planning, was presented with the AAUT Teaching Excellence Award in Law, Economics, Business and Related Studies category, for Strategic leadership of the financial advice profession; as well as for the  emerging discipline of finance and financial planning within Australia.

The Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) is given to teachers in recognition of outstanding contributions to student learning, and quality teaching practices. Professor Brimble was a well-deserved recipient of the award, not only for his dedication to student learning, but also having helped improve professional standards of service within the industry. In a recent interview, Professor Brimble stated that employees in the industry are ready and eager for improved services.

“Industry employees are keen to build their professional profile and embrace this move and its promise,” he said.

In addition to this recent acknowledgment of exceptional teaching services, earlier this year Professor Brimble also received an AAUT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
